People tell me that their lives are so hectic because of the company they keep, the decisions they make, and the way they manage their time. Each time someone talks about it, I have no choice but to refer them to the idea of a piece of well–done steak. Now before you click the red button marked X in your top right-hand corner, give me a chance to explain myself. At family barbecues, steak restaurants and church picnics, a large slab of meat is put onto a grill to be cooked such as to remove the impurities it possess as a raw meat. Once cooked, it is much smaller than it was before, but it may very well be in the condition most suitable for dining. If you're not asleep yet, let me explain how this carries into your life. In life people can have all the friends they want, all the money they want, all the blingy ice they want and the fastest cars, and still be miserable. As a matter of fact, they are more prone to experience hardships, which partially gives leeway to the hip-hop phrase "more money, more problems". So when people come to me with their problems about all these things going on in their life, I explain steak to them:
God wants us to surrender those things most important to us in order to see if we have the ability to handle future struggles. So basically, just like the fire diminishes the slab into a smaller burnt piece, you should strip away those things that are hindering you from getting anywhere spiritually. Get rid of friends that you can tell discourage you more than anything. Change your schedule, and get rid of time consuming activities even if it means missing out on important stuff. Be humble more than meek in situations, even if people question your character. Now if this leaves you as a deprived piece of nothing, you are displaying what is known as quality over quantity. It may not be the largest thickest piece, but it is the most juicy, flavorful, satisfying delicacy, and it is everything anyone could ever hope for. Take Job for example. God allowed the Devil to take everything away from him, even the clothes on his back:
Job 2:3:
3-And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
His wife even told him to curse God and die:
Job 2:9:
9-Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? Curse God, and die.
So what did Job say? "God, I curse you because of all the things you are letting happen to me?:
Passage Job 1:21-22:
21-And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
22-In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
Passage Job 13:15
15-Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Steak.
If you trust in God for your breakthrough, then he will bring the increase. I am steak, so when people come to me with their problems, I am just enough to satisfy their needs. I'm not a lot of philosophies and religious theories; I'm just qualitative straight-to-the-point truth.
Put your spatula down and give me some feedback, please.
